Upstream Launches 'Learn and Earn' Course for Building DAOs

Web3 infrastructure company Upstream is gearing up to launch "My First DAO," a 24-week online course that equips students with the necessary tools to construct decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). The comprehensive program aims to educate crypto enthusiasts on tokenomics, governance structures, and compliance concepts essential for building self-governing online communities.

"My First DAO" adopts a unique approach, combining learning with earning. Students will have the opportunity to be rewarded for their active participation in the course. To enroll in the program, students must mint a dolphin-themed non-fungible token (NFT) known as a "DAOphin." These NFTs are created by Process Grey, the talented artist behind the popular Goblintown collection.

Upon completion of the 24-week course, students will have the option to exchange their DAOphin NFTs for generative art NFTs that incorporate rarity traits. Engaging actively in the classes will enhance the chances of receiving NFTs with more exclusive traits.

Alex Taub, co-founder of Upstream, recognizes the lack of accessible educational resources for Web3 builders venturing into DAO development. Taub emphasizes the importance of understanding key concepts such as tokenomics, governance, and voting when establishing online communities.

Taub believes that offering an exceptional course that elucidates the process and rationale behind building DAOs will unlock the potential of aspiring individuals, thereby fostering broader adoption of these transformative concepts.

The minting window for DAOphin NFTs is open until May 29, with each NFT priced at 0.015 ETH (approximately $30). The course is scheduled to commence on June 1 and will conclude in December, culminating with a wrap party during Miami's prestigious Art Basel event.

Notably, Upstream previously hosted the DAO-A-THON, a competition resembling the popular "shark-tank" format, where aspiring DAO builders pitched their early Web3 community ideas to secure funding for execution during last year's Art Basel.

By launching initiatives like "My First DAO" and organizing events such as DAO-A-THON, Upstream aims to foster innovation and knowledge sharing within the Web3 ecosystem, empowering individuals to actively participate in the growth and development of decentralized communities.
